John 11:25-26

“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”.

Jesus made a bold and audacious statement. As a friend to Lazarus, Mary, and Martha, and on the death of Lazarus, Jesus said to Mary and Martha, your brother will rise again! And that is immediate, then Jesus said He is the Resurrection and the Life…

Lazarus who was dead for four days was resurrected by Jesus, this act triggered the anger of the leaders and the high priest to kill Jesus. On that day, Priests, Pharisees, Sadducees and Jews in their numbers believed in Jesus as a result of that act, and the leaders knew they had to get rid of Jesus before He turns their religion upside down.

1 Corinthians 15: 14,18,19

“And if Christ has not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty” …

The resurrection of JESUS CHRIST is the central event in the Christian faith. Without the resurrection, there is no Christianity! The resurrection of Jesus Christ is what gives us our foundation and our message as Christians. Everything Jesus said would have meant nothing but for the resurrection. The resurrection thus means everything to us as Christians. Assuredly, the followers of Jesus Christ will one day resurrect from the dead.

Three Reasons for the Resurrection

1. The forgiveness of sin. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Isaiah 53:5-6
2. The resurrection is proof that Jesus is the Son of God.
3. The resurrection is the evidence that believers will rise from the dead.
